The IT Test Console has tests for all the required URL patterns.

Range request (HTTP code 206)

The HTTP Range request (return code 206) is mandatory for downloads. Mce uses Microsoft’s BITS service to download large files in the background. The BITS service uses standard range requests to get files in small parts. The Range request must be allowed to succeed with 206 code.

The IT Test Console has tests that fail if the Range request is blocked or modified.

IT Test Console

An IT Test Console which automatically checks all network requirements is available by mce. It is highly recommended to run the IT tester prior to deployment. Please consult with mce which additional tests should be performed in addition to the basic ones.

The tests under “MCE Tests” should run with “System Defined Proxy”. All tests should PASS.

If any test FAILs, mce should review the results to ensure all services would work properly.

Proxy configuration of mce products

mce can configure the product to use one of the following:

  1. User’s default proxy (using same proxy settings as Internet Explorer). This is the most common setting.
  2. Use a specific proxy, given a host and a port.

These settings could be verified using the IT Test Console.

Vendor Tools Installation

For flashing capabilities of mceToolbox, additional packages may be required and installed. Among others, the packages included may be:

  1. Apple: iTunes
  2. RIM: Blackberry WebSL, Wipe Tool
  3. Samsung: KIES, SMART
  4. Nokia: NCS4/5, NSU
  5. Sony: USP/Emma
  6. LG: Byer Tool
  7. Microsoft: .NET4.0/2.0 and VC Redistributable 2010/8/5
